چکیده
m. Krypton laser photocoagulat on has been demonstrated to be efficient in the treatment of juxtafoveal well-defined choroidal new vessels in AMD. The efficacy of two different wavelengths frequency doubled Nd-Yag Laser (FDYL) and krypton red (KR) was compared in the treatment of extrafoveal and juxtafoveal well-defined choroidal neovascularization (CNV) secondary to A.M.D. &$,&Q&. 38 eyes were randomly assigned to frequency doubled Yeg (I8 eyes) or krypton red laser (20 eyes). The judgment criteria were the followings : 1) persistence or recurrence rate at I month after laser treatment, 2) final visual acuity, 3) CNV size (< l/4 DD ; lWl12DD : > l/2 DD) and 4) location to the fovea (< SO p ; 50.400 p , > 400 I*). Beyllts. The rate of persistence or recurrence was comparable between FDYL (33,3%) and krypton (30%) groups (p < 0.5).

Subretinal surgery for peripapillary subretinal neovascular membranes.
PURPOSE To report the results of surgical removal of extrafoveal peripapillary subretinal neovascular membranes (PSRNVMs) for elderly patients in whom visual acuity was threatened or affected by subretinal fluid, subretinal hemorrhage, subretinal exudate, or PSRNVM growth toward the fovea. METHODS Retrospective review of six eyes of six patients undergoing subretinal surgical removal of PSRNV...
متن کاملSymmetry of disciform scars in bilateral age-related macular degeneration.
The size of the final macular scar in subretinal neovascularisation (SRNV) is one of the most important determinants of final visual function in patients with subfoveal disease. We studied patients with bilateral macular scars from age-related subretinal neovascular membranes retrospectively in order to determine whether or not fellow eyes behave similarly. We found a significant correlation be...
متن کاملSpontaneous Regression of Choroidal Neovascularization in a Patient with Pattern Dystrophy
Purpose. To present a case of a patient with pattern dystrophy (PD) associated choroidal neovascularization (CNV) that resolved spontaneously without treatment. Methods. A 69-year-old male patient was referred to our unit, for evaluation of a recent visual loss (metamorphopsias) in his left eye. Fundus examination, fundus autofluorescence imaging, and fluorescein angiography showed a choroidal ...
متن کاملClinicopathological correlation in exudative age related macular degeneration: histological differentiation between classic and occult choroidal neovascularisation.
AIMS To analyse the histopathology of classic and occult choroidal neovascular membrane surgical specimens in age related macular degeneration. METHODS 35 membranes, from a consecutive series of surgically removed choroidal neovascular membranes in age related macular degeneration, were classified as classic or occult following the guidelines of the Macular Photocoagulation Study. Membranes w...
متن کاملNewly-Formed Subretinal Vessels
The ultrastructure of experimentally induced newly formed subretinal vessels was correlated with the amount of fluorescein leakage demonstrated by the neovascular membranes during angiography. The membranes that demonstrated leakage contained subretinal vessels with a fenestrated endothelial wall and intermediate interendothelial cell junctions. As these subretinal plexi matured, they stopped d...
